As long as I remember, I have a list of places to see and countries to visit. At the beginning of every year, I update the list. Places I visited the past year have been replaced by others. Of course, with the Coronavirus being everywhere, my trip is being cancelled. I am not spoiling the destination yet, as I hope to make this trip next year.
The current situation made me realise how vulnerable we all are and how blessed I am to have been able to visit so many places although it does not stop me from dreaming and planning new trips in the future.
Last year was my best travel year. I travelled to five countries and none of them I have been before.
Travels in 2019:
- Morocco – Casablanca, Rabat, Meknès, Volubilis, Fés & Marrakech
- The United Kingdom – London
- Russia – Moscow & Saint Petersburg
- Iceland – Reykjavik & Vík
- Sweden – Stockholm
In May I went to Morocco. There was a group tour, and within eight days, we visited the 4 King cities and more. Most impressive were the colourful buildings and the waterfall.
London was up next. I went in September and only for three days, but I had a blast! I saw three musicals and enjoyed every second of it. I saw the musicals Waitress, School of Rock and Come From Away.
At the end of October, I went to the airport again. This time to catch a flight to Moscow. Moscow was a long-awaited dream, and it finally happened. Like Morocco, we went on a group tour. We visited several parts of the city, and later we went to Saint Petersburg by night train. Saint Petersburg was very special as well. Unfortunately, at the end of the trip, I started to feel a bit ill. In my opinion, the trip was way too short. I really want to return to both cities one day.
Only a month later I was at the airport again. This time to go to Iceland! We planned to stay in Reykjavik only, but not everything happens the way you expected, and we ended up renting a car and visited a small town in the more southern part of Iceland called Vík. We saw a lot of beautiful natural landscapes.
The final trip of 2019 was Stockholm. There was so much to do there. Public transportation is excellent, and we were able to do a lot. As it was the end of the year, so we celebrated New Year’s there as well!
Travelling is just the best way to say goodbye to the current year and start the next one! This year we also planned to say be abroad for New Years, but for now, we stay home and stay safe!
